There's a ton of Dubstep threads posted on this forum and even more links to terrible dubstep tracks.
I don't agree with everything in this article but found some points really interesting and worth a read

TLDR: The article talks about during dubstep's development it took a fast track to mainstream by replacing some of the dark grunge and deep base with sounds and wobbles that can be heard on shitty laptop speakers and what you heard on the radio is essentially shit

There's still plenty of good dubstep out there, even with these high pitched, mid range wobbles of which you speak... It's all about a proper structure, and use of real sub bass.. just gotta weed through the shit to find the gems. Honestly real dubstep ("old" dubstep) can get really boring really quick IMO. But ya still gotta love the OG's. except Benga... he makes me sleepeh ;P

really just depends though
