Well 1 day during the Civil War (War between the States) at the end of a battle the only person alive was a Confederate Soldier and as he was walking past the bodies he noticed an Eagle that had been hurt during the battle.
He picked it up and when he got to where he could be treated (Auburn University) for his wounds he asked them if they could treat the Eagle as well
Thus the battle cry (going to be a lot of crying if Auburn loses) was born

Anyway lets hope its a good game

There was some newspaper guy that compared the team to elephants and it stuck probably because it's hard to make a mascot out of certain type of algal bloom.

Wait... Is Bama trying to be ironic? I don't know, but I'm sure confused. In all fairness, though, how the 'Tide managed to hold to their rank so far just shows how much the SEC is overrated. I mean, case-in-point, Mississippi State: in no other conference these days would ANY excuse allow a team to hold a ranking at 7-4. And they don't have very good excuses; they couldn't even hold a FCS team TD-less!
I hereby refuse to grant any importance to SEC until the whole FBS is revamped. Once they find themselves forced to play someone other than CUSA and FCS teams outside themselves, (even if it's only through playoffs) THEN we'll see how good they are.

Better than Miss State's two TDs and a FG. I mean hell, Florida got away with keeping #1 after their season opener last year, when they gave up a FG to Charleston Southern, whom I had never heard of until that time.Bama;810363 said:
