Questions involving custom housing...

Does the "moving crate" keep the items 'held' within it, or are they deleted after a certain amount of time? If items are held within the moving crate "forever," then does the crate clear or keep the items when the house switches owners?

The items stay in there forever.

Whenever I buy a new house I check the crate and there is almost always something in there.
