Shard/Forum/IRC Rules: Please read (Updated January 16, 2009)

Shard Guidelines

1: Treat the staff with respect. The staff are volunteers, and don't get paid to take abuse of any form. Do not swear at staff, belittle staff, or harass staff.

2: We will not replace items that you claim are lost, even if they were insured; the circumstances do not alter this. While we truly empathize with any player who has had the unfortunate experience to loose something valuable, we must retain a uniform policy across the board as there is no way to verify the honesty of the claim.

3: We will not change your characters name, sex, or otherwise tweak your characters. If you make a mistake, you will have to let the seven days expire and then delete the character. The consequence of picking offensive names for your characters or pets is that your character will be renamed to "Generic Player" and your pet deleted. We will not change your name again after the fact as this is the consequence of your actions. You can either delete and recreate the character with an appropriate name, or you may acquire a name change deed from the Donation Store. Please do not page if your name is thus changed.

4: We will not assist with travel. If there is someplace that you want to go, it is up to you to find a way to get there. Try asking another player for help getting to a new location. If you find yourself getting lost a lot, here's a wonderful utility called UO AutoMap that will make sure you never get lost again! http://uoam.net. The exception to this rule is if you are physically stuck and can not move, then you should feel free to page for assistance.

5: There is a limit of four accounts per household, not IP address. If you already have four accounts and another family member or roommate decides that they want to play here, then you will have to give them one of your accounts. It is up to you to inform the staff when this happens.
  • Attempting to circumvent this rule by getting multiple IP addresses, multiple internet connections, or creating other accounts from work/school will not be tolerated and will result in consequences which may include the banning of all of your accounts. Don't do this!
  • Included in this rule is the restriction that players are not permitted to share accounts. Sharing accounts not only jeapordizes the security of your posessions but will also result in consequences to your account if caught. We enforce this rule for the safety of our players.
6: Do not gather resources unattended. This includes: ore, leather, logs, ToTs, minor artifacts, BODs, fish, reagents, items, food, gold, pets (even if only for a few moments), etc... It is also prohibited to sell items to NPC vendors or to turn in completed BODs while UNATTENDED as that falls under the realm of acquiring items and gold. You may not use macros to purchase from NPCs. If you are unable to respond to a staff member when the staff member questions you, you will be considered UNATTENDED and actioned.
- Dropping the gathered resources at your feet does not absolve you from the consequences.
- "Unattended" will not be differentiated between "SEMI ATTENDED", "SORT OF ATTENDED", "just running to the bathroom", or "just checking back every so often to make sure I'm not in jail". You either respond to the staff member or you don't.

***please note: Pets are on the list so this prohibits unattended taming in any fashion.

7: Third party programs are not allowed. Anything other than unmodified UO Client, Razor, ConnectUO, UOGateway, UOAM (AutoMap), and UO Wedding are not allowed.

8: Do not "grief" players in Trammel ruleset facets (Trammel, Ilshenar, Tokuno, Malas). Griefing includes, but is not limited to, trapping players, luring mobs onto another player with intent to get them killed, casting fields on another player with intent to get them killed, and releasing pets with the intent to kill another player.

- It is acceptable to "trap" players in Felucca with the purpose of killing them, however once that player is a ghost there must be a clear path of escape for them so that they can leave and resurrect. Similarly killing players, whether AFK or not, in Felucca is perfectly acceptable by any means.

9: Racist remarks and racial slurs will not be tolerated in any facet.

10: It is illegal to sell or trade items/gold for real world cash or items. This includes use of websites like eBay. You may not trade items/gold for items/gold on any other Ultima server or game. This includes trades between other RunUO servers. Demise items may only be traded within the Demise environment.

11: While an account is considered the players responsibility, attempting to gather data about other player accounts or "guess" accounts will result in termination of your accounts and any linked accounts. This includes , but is not limited to, email phishing, gaining unauthorized access to the server, imitation of staff, or account guessing at the login screen.

12: Advertising another server within any Demise environment (server, IRC, Demise ventrillo, forums) will result in account termination.

JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING IS NOT OUTLINED IN THE SECTION DOES NOT MEAN WE CANNOT ACTION YOU FOR IT.
PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE

Forum Guidelines

1: Remember at all times we do have children on these forums, so please do your best to keep topics safe for family members and children.

2: Be respectful of others, not everyone here has the same level of experience with computers or gaming.

3: Do not post or link to materials that can be described as obscene, racist, hateful, or pornographic.

4: Before you ask questions search the forum for your answer. This will save time and energy for everyone involved.

5: "Do a search" is not a proper response, so don't use it when someone asks for help. Either answer their question yourself or don't post at all.

6: Do not spam or advertise here, it will not be tollerated.

7: Follow proper forum posting guidelines.
Use the topic field to accurately describe the purpose of your post.
Post your thread in the proper forum. (general, trades, etc)
Do not repost your thread if it was deleted or locked. The staff took action on your thread for a reason, do not incur their wrath.

8: Do not flame other users or otherwise post with the intent of "trolling." Trolling is defined as posts that are specifically designed to upset other users.

9: We do not permit flaming anywhere on these forums, so do not do it.

10: Do not post your question in multiple forum sections.

11: If you haven't received a reply to your question or post, do not bump it, either someone doesn't know an answer or you were too general in asking, re-word your question and repost it.

12: If a post should get locked or deleted; opening a new post on the topic will result in punishment of some sort.

13: We do not condone the trading of software on this forum. If you want to trade software, go somewhere else. This goes for everything.

14: Do not use this forum to promote other projects, this forum is for the Demise shard.

15: Do not bump your own posts. Also, do not revive (post in) threads that have not been posted in for some time, or who's subject matter is no longer relevant.

16: Please refrain from making posts if you feel that you have discovered a bug or an inconsistancy from OSI which the development team may not be aware of. The following process should be used to report these issues, as any such posts will be deleted. Use the email address: bugs <AT> uodemise ..DOT... com or make a bug report in the project section of the forums.

17: Trade forum guidelines can be found at: http://www.uodemise.com/discussion/s...ad.php?t=11998

18: Because Demise is an internationally accessed server, we provide a few forums for languages that are prominantly spoken on server. If you do not speak the language in those forums please refrain from commenting in them. Temporary bans will be issued to people who go into those forums and post insults or random nonsense in the foreign language sections. Anyone who posts things like "I don't understand what these guys are saying" or "I don't speak your moon language" will receive no less then a 2 week forum ban

IRC Guidelines

As some of you know, UOGamers runs an IRC ("Internet Relay Chat") server in addition to the shards and forums. The IRC server can be found at the following address: irc.runuo.com In order to make use of the IRC server, you will need an IRC client. A popular one is mIRC, a free 30 day trial can be downloaded from http://www.mirc.com there is also HydraIRC, which is completely free and can be downloaded from http://www.hydrairc.com

Once connected to the server there are two official channels (think rooms) that are that are maintained by Demise staff. Those are:

#demise | a general discussion/help room.
#demise-trades | a channel for advertising your sales/trades and coordinating meetings with other players to conduct transactions.

1: Keep trades in the #demise-trades channel. This includes "price checks." Again, anything related to trading/buying/selling/bartering needs to be done in #demise-trades. That's the purpose of this channel.

2: Follow the general forum rules as relating to acceptable content. Do not post or link to materials that are pornographic, obscene, hateful, or racist.

3: Try to maintain a PG-13, at worst, environment at all times. That is, keep the profanity to a minimum; and if possible avoid it all together. Likewise, try to avoid talking about "mature" topics.

4: Do not use the Demise IRC channels to advertise, or otherwise promote, any projects or shards not directly endorsed by UO Gamers.

Note: By using any of these sevices you hereby agree to these rules, ignorance of the rules does not effect the punishment.
