UOGamers: Demise turns 9 Years Old..... Sorta...

Before Demise was known as Demise, it was a semi-public shard known as ShardUDIC.

ShardUDIC was started as server run on UOX3 for UDIC members only. It originally had a custom storyline involving Elves, Political Infighting, and various City States.

This version of the shard was started in July 1999. It lasted approximately 6 months. This version was replaced over time by Sphere and POL versions that were more "vanilla" in terms of plot.

In 2002/2003, the RunUO version of ShardUDIC was created and perfected. It was designed to be a recreation of (at the time) modern OSI:Atlantic. This is still evident today by the Summer Faire outside of Britain, the decorations around the Fel Britain Blacksmith Guild and the Moonglow Bank.

In June/July 2004, Ryan of the RunUO DevTeam "drafted" me to work on a new UOGamers server that was, unlike what is now known as Hybrid, an accurate "up to date" (at the time) Server based on OSI. To do this, the ShardUDIC Spawn Sets were moved over to the new "UOGamers AOS Server"

UOGamers:Demise was born.

So, in a very round-about way, UOGamers just celebrated it's 9th year of existance, in some form or another.

Hopefully the next decade will be as fun as the last decade.

Do you really believe Demise will survive another decade?

Did anyone believe that a beta test known as Ultima: Online (which was supposed to last one year) would last ten?

Very nice to hear the history of UODemise. It's come a long way, and I never would have guessed 9 years.

Hmm, I'm only 1,356 days old. Which means I was about 5 years late to the party. =P
