The following changes will be applied to Demise during server wars tonight:
  • Fixed crafting gump material counters.
  • Added the 'do not color' indicator to the crafting gump.
  • Added maker's mark and exceptional labels to all carpentry craftables.
  • Fixed crafting using alternative woods.
This update is mostly in preparation for the runic carpentry and fletching tools. While weapons and armor will be craftable using alternative woods tonight, they will not yet receive the bonus properties. This will follow soon. :)

Also, from now on, event gates will also appear in Jhelom, Nujel'm, Skara Brae and New Haven.

I'm pretty new to the whole AOS ruleset, but does this mean people will be running around with Comp bows similar to the kryss' people use for PvP?

Bow craft runics are up to 4 mods + mod from woods + di for being crafted so you can see bows with 4-6 mods rolling up 4 mods one would be crazy godly like 40 ssi or 25 hci 6 one would be weak like 10 ssi or 10 hci or even a shitty 3 mods + di cuz one of the mods rolled up di.

So if I understand you correctly, they will be even more powerful (or have the possibility to be) than current runic crafted weapons?

kind off they have a trade off wood types add one mod that mod will always be there that mod can stack with runic mods to make one really strong mod or have an extra small mod but runics only add 4 mods where as crafted weapons with smith runics are di + 5 mods or Di + 4 mods with a val hammer.

well, its not simple

valorite hammer 5 props - intensity 85-100
heartwood runic 4 props - intensity 50-100

its not the same thing

Yes but you forget that unlike colored ingots colored woods give you a mod.

http://www.uoguide.com/Board

Take ash as an example 10% ssi 20% lower req thats 2 more mods added on to what you get from runics + di from being crafted

Yumi
40 di< crafted
Hit spell < runic
leech< runic
Fc 1 < runic
Slayer < runic
10 ssi < wood
20% lower req < wood

Also runic + wood propertys so it could roll up like this

40 di < crafted
Hit spell < runic
Leech < runic
Fc 1 < runic
40 ssi < runic + wood
20 lower req < wood

Sorry, I am noob.
Would the "not ordinary" boards give effects to weapon now?
Will this need a special kind if kit, or the good old "Arrow Fletcher" will do the trick?

Not yet, but soon, yes!

A standard kit will be enough to get the properties of the wood. If you want additional magic modifiers, you need a runic fletching kit (which will be available from a Heartwood quest).

A note to players having trouble converting regular logs into boards: I accidentally put a 100.0 skill requirement on that. As a workaround until we restart and fix that issue, boards are now also craftable using a saw (in the Other menu). No carpentry skill needed. Issue is fixed now.
