If it's as OSI it's not a bug if it's not as OSI it's a bug. The real potential for abuse is in PBD's discussion of the issue with PSZ settled on PBD's need changed to only work if you aren't over your stable cap.

As I said on IRC, I honestly honestly think it's a bug on OSI that will be fixed.

HOWEVER, as Nikki pointed out, it's been that way on OSI for quite a long time, and they don't seem to be hurrying to fix it.

So while I DO think it's a screwup on OSI that SHOULD be fixed, until it is, I say go with the easier fix for us: If fixing the PBD is quicker/easier/more efficient, go that way. If "fixing" the Pet Limit is quicker/easier/more efficient, go that way.

All known issues have been fixed and fixes for a number of issues related to pet commands have been added.

Updated to SVN 329. Since this project is done and waiting I'm reducing maintenance by only offering a patch.

Use a DL manager such as Orbit.

RunUO and it's subservers have a bug with some zip/rar attachments.

The come command is not working as per OSI. If you tell your pet to come, it will walk up to the spot that you are standing then wander, it will not continue to follow you from that point. If you tell the pet to come then walk to another spot, the pet will continue to walk to the spot where the command was issued then wander.

I have tested this on OSI myself.

Are you sure this is per OSI? On chessie, Im seeing a giant beetle's ghost thats been sitting at the shrine for days.

EDIT: Publish 46 notes do not say anything about this change. (mistake) The cited FoF does NOT mention this change either.

uoguide claims 2-4 hours for ghosts, but that seems to be wrong. uoherald which is an EA site, states that the change was to 24 hours. This still does not explain the beetle ghost sitting at spirituality shrine for days, but ok....

Id not use uoguide for coding purposes, or stratics. They are guides, yes, but they are not authoritative answers.

Yes, the NOT is in bold on the site. That page was last updated May 19, 2009.

This pretty much makes sense now that pet ghosts logout with the player ......

UO Guide publish notes are direct copies from uo.com and their search function is more usable. I was not aware official sources disagreed and don't know which is more authoritative.

The "official" page you posted at the update center is a publish to test center. It has the following note:

"[SIZE=-1]NOTE: This is not a final list and may change before this publish goes live. We will post a final list of Publish 29 details as we are ready to publish to the production shards."

Here ( http://update.uo.com/design_506.html ) is the final version of Pub 29, per uo.com.



Either way tho, the playguide itself (updated May 2009) says that dead bonded pets "will not dissipate or lose loyalty".

Hang on - let me get this straight: When you log out, your bonded pet ghost logs out with you?

So this question is only about how long your pet ghost will survive if you don't log out?

A secondary question to test on OSI would be whether the timer (2-4 Hours, 24H or 2 days) is reset every time you log out. Ie can you "refresh" your pet ghost by logging out and logging in every x hours/days (let's imagine you were training Vet veeeery slowly).

Impossible to test. Its not necessary to test the 2-4 hours, that never went into play.

The EA servers reboot every ~24 hours, thus logging everyone (along with their bonded pets) out of the world.

Its fairly obvious - when the playguide says they do NOT dissipate or lose loyalty, it means it.

Another wrench in testing is that OSI kicks idle players out after approximately 5 minutes. So, the person in game, to stand still and watch would have to be standing there doing something the entire duration of the test (2-4 hours... OR 24 hours....) Seems rather tedious, and, as Xavier stated - the playguide is very clear in stating that the ghosts do not dissapate or lose loyalty....

All of this really leaves no question - testing would only be there to test their documentation to their game; however, as listed above, testing is practically impossible.

Add to that the Pet-Auto Stable on Logout, and this becomes a completely moot point.

Also: Pub 46 does not list Ghosts at all, pets or otherwise. Please double check your source, Nikki
