House Decay Duration

I would like to start a discussion on the house decay stage durations. The durations on Demise are currently set to:
  1. Like new: 1 hour
  2. Slightly: 1-2 days
  3. Somewhat: 1-2 days
  4. Fairly: 1-2 days
  5. Greatly: 1-2 days
  6. IDOC: 12-24 hours
These durations are based on the UO Herald article:
http://uo.stratics.com/uoherald/guide/guide.php?guideId=141 (archived)
They are again mentioned on UO Stratics here:
http://uo2.stratics.com/homes-and-decorations/the-homeowners-guide/housing-rules

It is rumored that these times are not correct (at least for the ML to current era), and frankly, sitting at a house in danger of collapsing for 12-24 hours is ridiculous.

So, if anyone has any information on the OSI accuracy of these times, please post below. Testing data, locations of decaying houses on OSI, and official articles will be especially appreciated. Thank you!

I agree that random timers are a huge waste of everyone's time. There was something of an art to pinpointing the drop of all your idocs. Forcing people to mindlessly wait all day for something that might happen before bedtime is not why people log into play a 15 year old game. Even if it's currently OSI accurate, I think a case could be made for static idoc timers trumping random on a basis of enjoyment. For example, a Fel idoc stirs up more of a fight when you know it's dropping in the next couple of hours vs now when it could be lunch tomorrow.

+1 on set times as i use to idoc but this 12-24 hours is outta my league! I'd rather sit and watch plants grow.

I recently played OSI several months ago they had indeed changed this system several times. It outraged the idoc hunters with the random timer in the idoc stage. And months later they changed it to what I have shown. However all the resource pages never reflect this. This is because they have changed it so many times. But, it is indeed what I have shown above. I was in a guild on Atlantic that camped these 24/7 and several members would call it to the minute. They stated however there is a rare occasion that it goes 8 hours. I was told the decay stage starts like 30-60 days after non payment of account. On a side note there is a stage called "Owned by OSI" These are accounts that are under investigation by osi and awaiting approval to decay. After IDOC stage and before collapse they suddenly switch to "Owned by OSI" and all the IDOC campers begin to cuss and recall away. :)

The problem with saying they are again listed on stratics is that both those links are actually the exact same article. They are not separate sources of information. so in actuality, there is only one source that claims those are the times. I can prove they are the same article in different cloths too, by pointing out the wording.

Herold
"When a house collapses, new houses cannot be placed on that lot for a random amount of time."
Stratics
"When a house collapses, new houses cannot be placed on that lot for a random amount of time." shows up in both.

Herold
"If your house is scheduled to decay but still has contract-vendors with unexpired contracts, the house will list as "Demolition Pending" and not fully decay until 9 days after those contracts expire. Houses with this status cannot be reclaimed, even by reactivating their accounts. These houses remain standing only to allow the contract-vendor owners to reclaim their vended inventory. (You can find more information on Contract Vendors here.)"

Furthermore. the only comments on that stratics page is two different people complaining that the decay times are wrong.

This stratics page is more accurate based on comments on their forums.

The house decay times have been updated.

This sort of fits reported IDOC times, but still is not following any official and accurate information or testing data, so that is still welcome. :)

You hover your finger over the sign. That status is located at the bottom. Some times while hovering it can be stubborn to show the tooltip. Can put finger on another sign and come back seems to force it to load sometimes. Just like hovering over objects in pack sometimes it is stubborn.
