Macing sticks...

What do they do? (Gnarled staff, quarter staff etc.)

I see them being used all over the place in PvP.. obviously there's something going on that I don't know about. Never been hit by one, but see it all the time.

Any clear picture on this would be appreciated!

Gnarled Staffs have magic properties but are pretty much useless. Quarter staffs are very fast and rape stamina, and an accurate vanq Q staff can take your health down pretty quick.

I've seen them used in pvp as a joke. Mostly Looks, very useless.

war axe -- Destroy armor fast higher than average dammage and quick swing speed 1 handed

War hammer -- Kills stam/heal/armor quickly but has a extremely slow swing speed 2 handed

basic mace -- average dammage low stam drop low armor dammage moderate swing speed 1 handed

Maul -- average dammage low stam drop low armor dammage moderate swing speed 1 handed

War mace -- higher than average dammage low stam drop low armor dammage moderate swing speed 1 handed

Quarter staff -- high dammage very high stam drop low armor dammage quick swing speed 2 handed

Gnarled staff -- Joke should not be used in fights low everything 2 handed

Black staff -- Joke should not be used in fights low everything 2 handed

Wand -- VERY low dammage low armor dammage low stam drop fast swing speed Good for training macing skill 1 handed

I wouldn't go so far as to say the black staff is a joke. It's speed isn't as great as a quarterstaff, but the damage is a little higher. I've killed my fair share of oranges with a vanq black staff.

I agree with Hyru. Black staffs can be fun, and they do some damage, and they look cool on top of that. When I roll with my macer I tend to carry a warhammer and a quarterstaff. Warhammers have the crushing blow, which does devastating amounts of damage, and is often surprising. Q-staffs are great, they are fast enough to fight mages, and do enough damage to compete with dexers.
