Major Lag

Theeph

Wanderer
Hey, i tried to search the forums, but honestly, i'm not good at it, so if this has been answered forgive me.

The past 3 days or so my lag has been unbearable, certainly unplayable. I stutter step the entire time, and sometimes my character will not move on my screen, everyone will vanish, and I will be moving on other people's screen. That's all I know. Any help would be great.

I do know i avg ping at 40.6 when i am lagging, which I know is no lag. don't know if that helps.

I've also recently set up a second monitor, so i have two screens.

Everyone vanishes? That's kinda... odd. Did you modify your client in any way lately? What version is it at currently?

Did you change your video card or drivers to set up the second monitor? Perhaps you could try going back to a single monitor to see if that caused it.

I'll unplug it when I get home from work, see if that does the trick, i don't imagine it will, though. :(

Theeph try these instructions:

Countessa said:
If you are having lag problems, post a traceroute in this thread. Most of the time, lag problems are a problem with your ISP, or with an ISP between you and the server that none of us have control over.
Very rarely there is a problem on our ISP's end, and seeing traceroutes can help us bring it to their attention.

To run a traceroute:

  • Press "Start" in Windows
  • Press "Run..."
  • Type "Cmd" and press "OK"
  • IN the box that pops up type tracert login.uogamers.com
  • Let the trace run, while it is running, expand the height of the window so that all the results can be seen at once.
  • Right click on the window's title and go to "Edit" and select "Mark"
  • Highlight the results of the trace and press ENTER
  • Create a reply in this thread and paste the results of the trace INSIDE OF [ code] and [/code] tags. The code tags are important because the trace is VERY hard to read without them. Please do not forget the code tags!

-.- But, I just logged on to see if there was still an issue and there doesn't seem to be, at least for the 3 minutes I was on. (I had not logged on in a few days)
If it comes back I'll retrace and let you know.

The lag seems to be a little better, when it's gone it's completely gone and when it's there it's there in full force. I tried the trace route when it happened last and got similar results with one or two at around 150-200. If that's significant I will post the results if it happens again.

It looks to me like its just your connection. You don't seem to be on a very fast connection so it is just a lag from that. If you are paying for a fast connection you may have some wiring or hardware issues.
