Npc ranger and pets lost

Hello, who is so kind to explain me how it works this way to recover lost bonded pet?
I know you have to pay anytime you use the service, but how you can ask the ranger npc to call your pet? I can't see any option in his menu and 'buy menu' to do that!
Beside that, you can use the service both if the pet is alive and if it's dead?
Any ranger do that? or just specific ones?
By the way, ball of pet summoning are still in game?
