Side Story #1 to Good Day Demise (Speedy)

Speedy walked quickly out of the tavern but slowed not 4 paces from the door. He fumbled around with the small, hard leather pouch on his waste and pulls a small tool from it. He closes his hand around it and looks up. Walking straight through town, rounding corners methodically, he comes to the provisioners shop. The lights inside flicker lightly against the window and he sees a little movement inside.

Nervously, he walks to the back of the building and looks around. He slides the small tool into the door and the lock clicks open. He quickly replaces it back into his pouch and enters the shop's storage room unseen. He pulls a few items from an open barrel and leaves as easily as he entered.

Again, he rounds a few corners until he comes to the library. From the satchel he pulls a very small bag and places a few small gems inside of it (also from the satchel) and then a slip of paper with writing.

He looks around and seeing no one, pulls a brick from the wall of the library and slides the pouch inside. He replaces the brick as it was before... it is absolutely invisible to someone not looking for it.

He quickly stands and brushes his hands off and lets out a sigh of relief. He heads back to the provisioners with a couple gold coin in hand and a smile.

Speedy enters the provisioners shop with a spring in his step. The gent behind the counter looks up and smiles, confirming that he did not know what had happened only 20 minutes prior.

"Ev'nin, Sir" Speedy greeted him, "would ya happen tah have a couple'a aprons fer sale?" The provisioner said he would go check in the back and be right out. Speedy waited by the counter quietly, listening. The provisioner returned within a few minutes with a couple of grey full aprons. He made no mention of anything in the back. Speedy smiled broadly but not so much at his soon-to-be purchase.

He and the provioner exchanged a few good words and the provisioner stated it would be 3 gold for each apron. Speedy looked in his hand and had to open the satchel carefully and remove a few more gold. "'ere ya go, sir - 6 gold." The provisioner wrapped the aprons in brown paper and tied them with a small bit of twine. With a finger-to-his-brow salute, Speedy left the shop and began walking towards the tavern.

Re: Side Story #1 to Good Day Demise

(pause in time from previous side story for speedy)

Speedy walked to the bank with true intent to get water; however, drawing close to the bank, he realized it may be prime opportunity for him to check on a few things. About a half block from the bank, he turned almost an immediate right and headed towards the library. He would have to be very careful considering it was daylight hours but he was sure he'd be fine. If there was one thing folks in this city could use it was book learning, but it wasn't something anyone actively sought.

He sat his bucket down and leaned over, fiddling pointlessly with his shoe. When the opportunity struck, he moved the brick back and rifled his hand around inside. Nothing seemed to have changed. As quick as he moved the brick, he had it back in place.

He picked his bucket up and walked double-speed back to the bank.

Re: Side Story #1 to Good Day Demise

Speedy leaned over the embankment and dipped his bucket into the water. As predicted, the water was relatively high and it did not take much effort to fill the bucket. He couldn't help but wonder why his notice had not yet been exchanged. He ran his previous tasks through his head, knowing no key element was missed. Perhaps there was only a hangup elsewhere in the operation... all he knew is that he wasn't going anywhere until everything was complete. "It's not so terrible."

He jumped at the sound of his own voice... he didn't mean to truly verbalize anything. He looked around at the people standing around chatting. Only one or two took notice of his talking to himself. He nodded his head and smiled, pulling the bucket up. He looked down. A small fish swam around inside it.

Speedy smiled to the one or two folks looking at him "seems I'm catching my own bait now" he chuckled a little while tipping the bucket, reaching in and flipping the fish back into the water. Fish isn't a terrible idea tho....

He hefted his bucket up and waddled back to the tavern to begin his self-proclaimed chore.... "Speedy..." he muttered "yer an idiot... who in their right mind wants t'wash windows...."

Speedy looked in the best he could through the streaked window and wondered about who the new visitor was. Vik had been wanting new patrons to the tavern so it was a good thing... he was just curious who this person was....

and why the stupid dirt just kept smearing around rather than getting clean...

He gives the bucket a kick realizing that he didn't wear his boots.. only sandals and yelps out loudly. Under his breath there is a muttering of words only those nearby could assume to be vulgar.

Speedy grabs his rag with his hand and throws it into the bucket. He stands over the bucket a moment, biting his bottom lip and thinking about his throbbing toe. He gives a loud sigh, grabs the rag, slaps it against the window and with two hands begins to scrub at the window like his life depended on it.

The mud just slipped around the window... smearing large streaks behind his rag.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG"

Speedy throws the rag into the water and grabs it up by the handle.
