I am currently installing Windows XP on an HP Pavilion zv6000 laptop; this is a single-core laptop upgraded to 2GB of RAM. Anyways.. I am loading XP on this laptop with a flash drive... so yeah I just realized how much time went by just to load the Windows XP Home Edition Setup (Blue DOS area)... I wish I had kept closer track as to how long this process took when I was younger.. I want that time back.
Windows 7 and above take almost no time to install compared to this guy. ;-)
I am thankful that there is an Off-Topic area; I hope other computer vets can share their stories of legacy / better technology and how long it took to install. Don't get me started on Windows 3.1 and the 50+ floppy disks.
