UOF is a server that had a lot of potential but the server owner is a complete joke. Shane is permabanning any good players who dont donate for phantom "speedhack". Myself and many others have been banned from that server for "hacking" when clearly we are not, in fact the server has been a terrible laggy POS for months now and i'm much faster on hybrid and second age. Look around some forums and you will see tons of stories about how Shane is basically in it entirely for the money and once hes made enough he will shut his shitty server down and start a new one sometime in the future. Case in point, we are rolling with a crew of 4 stomping out some blues in Shame and then brit GY as per usual, midfight myself and one other player from my crew get jailed, accused of speedhacking with nothing to back it up, and perma ip banned. The other two players I was with had donated, myself and the second jailed player had not. Guess who didn't get banned? On top of this there was some some actual real speedhacking (extremely blatant screen skipping toggle) going on by a player named truehood and his crew for months and months and despite pages almost every day he was never permabanned, why? Because he's a big donator, and everyone knows it.

I'd encourage anyone who plays on that server to come back to Hybrid because at least you know this server isn't going anywhere and unless you are a big donator chances are your days playing there are numbered. It's just a matter of time before you kill the wrong person and little bitch Shane gets angry and bans you for some BS reason. Its really unfortunate that server exists because its splitting the dwindling population that still play pub15 era servers. If all the crews from UOF came back to hybrid things would probably be popping again. Not sure if Ryan is still around and active but i'd really like to see some changes made to try and revitalize this server back to his prior glory. Removing del pond safezone was a good start. Makes me sad to see all these crazy neon items everywhere, private islands all over the place, and tons of obviously [added items everywhere. We need to get back to basics and remember what made this game the best game ever created, and why we still play it after 17 years.

Of course hes only in it for the money, I'm surprised you guys even play there when spell casting is so off... The only people that play that server are hybrid rebels that refuse to play hybrid because of some stupid reasons that they think happen to them in the past or whatever. If people would stop crying, and play a real server there would be massive pvp... Hybrid has the best pvp setup period, the pvp has been worked on for 10 years, it should..

I'm also tired of seeing people say make changes and more changes, sometimes changes hurt things... why fix things that are not broken? The only things that needs changed are bolas/mares/lightning wand macros, and there has probably been a ton of changes you dont even know about since you've left... I've finally said fuck the items, fuck the colors, fuck whatever other shit and just focus on pvp... KBR and ER "tets guild" have some huge numbers, so factions are pretty decently active, especially at sigil time. Get on, bring your crew, everyone stop being pussies and lets pvp.

The timings are a little weird, but I didn't mind them because damage was lower, meaning if you were good at xhealing it really showed. You could easily heal 5-6 man syncs with 3 if you were good. I mostly agree with what you are saying though. I really dont think wands should be a big part of pvp, that was something that was nice about UOF, as much as I love alchemy and I was pioneering the current 1v1 style of lightning spam pot combos back in 05-06, its gotten to the point where theres more pot throwing and wand spam than actual spellcasting, which is obviously a problem. UOF alchemy was good, but it hit for about 15-20 on average with GM alchemy, instead of highs of 30 like here on hybrid. It felt a lot more balanced, still very much worth it, but other temps were still viable, you would often see healer mages, scribes, etc. Wands were nonexistent there. Also dexers can only throw pots with 1 handed weapons which was pretty cool as well.

I'd really like to see more variance in temps used. Its pretty much alchy mage or bust now, if you aren't playing one you will be at a severe disadvantage, and yeah I do blame myself a lot for that, but if I wasn't the one abusing it, someone else would of eventually as well.

Anyway, we will be fielding once I can get some supplies together here in the next week or so. We will probably have 3-4 on average. I know a lot of people are looking at gamers again due to being banned from UOF, so hopefully we'll see a resurgence.

has anyone bothered checking out zanzibar? I don't play anymore but if i did, it would be there. Owned by mark who was most familiar with Hybrid game mechancis. Hence, spell timings are the exact same and other mechanics have been implemented to tweak the game a bit. looks like it's growing from <100 to 150 now. I think it's been up for barely 4-6 months? That's some pretty decent growth. A lot of old schoolers from Hybrid are playing there now, also.

my general impression here is that Ryan just wants to keep the shard open for those who have invested so much time and money into it. I don't think he has any interest in putting in the time and energy for any kind of recovery. he has no interest, nor should he (he has a family now), in returning Hybrid to its former glory of 2005-2006.

I'm not trying to advertise for another shard here, but that's just my conception. anyone else feel the same way/different?
