Ive been trying to play by the rules but whats the point if noone cares.

im saying nothing other than they wont ban you the first time they catch you ;)
*wink wink nudge nudge*

oki i lied, im gonna say more lol:
they will ban you if you're a serial offender and dont learn your lesson/start to take the piss

but i think it's funny cos it's like a cops and robbers thing :p
it's not really that terrible in terms of victims, but it does need to be kept in check so it doesn't get out of control. it's kind of another aspect of the game, but the way they do it seems to keep a bit of a black market around for ingots, lets people have a dabble in it. it's risky cos they'll jail you and delete the stuff so you wasted your time, and ban you if you keep doing it, but it can be profitable if you're smart about it and stop if you get caught :p

there's times when the gms are less active, times when they're more active. i dont mean to encourage people to do it, but it's better than getting worked up over it lol

if the prices are up then there's a lot of competition, which means a lot of people bodding, a lot of population/activity. you've gotta remember the server is kind of alive, it adjusts and things, the gms are there to keep it within certain lines, but beyond that it's all part of the fun in the long term :)

im like a pancreas :D
i break down the sweets into usable gold :p
the gms are like the white blood cells, criminals like the viruses and bacteria. but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger (tho not all the time lol), and some bacteria is good lol
it's trippy
like if they flooded the market with deco, people like me wouldn't be able to buy it all, none of it would get turned into gold, prices would fall, everything is devalued, the hunting class wouldn't get any gold to buy the items, etc. server would have diabetes :p lol

too much gold from afk farming - prices go up, more work has to be done to get item value, server is fat :D lol
its one of the reasons i really like uo, it's like a microcosm of society, which is the same way - like a big organism

it's a lot more resilient than people think though, and can recover from a lot/sway in a direction and be oki later. provided the gms are monitoring it <3 ^^
they should think of the server like a virtual pet :p

as a player i think the best thing to aspire to is to be a big enough part of the organism to have some influence over some aspect, i like to believe i have some influence on trade; im not saying i can set prices, but i have enough capitol to like buyout an object and manipulate the price, will sometimes do this, like i am probably going to do it with the xmas tokens, once you get past a certain point you have to buy loads of them to keep the price up, then you can set the resale value up a bit and make profit, once you can do that you're big enough to influence stuff in trade. Bulletproof Monk and GOLD was the same in tram guilds. Hz in pvp/fel guilds. things like this :)

it trips me out to think that people must think like that in real life, like rich people and people in power in society. but if you full on kill off a group, it can cause serious problems on the whole thing. just gotta keep a healthy balance

i just wanna add that when i say manipulate the price, i dont mean like lying about it and lowballing on a trade, i mean like on a larger scale, you take them out of circulation to adjust the supply:demand and increase the value. but it's also only done with collectables, not with usable items.

it's basic capitalist economics, and how the rich get richer purely on the merit of owning stuff. if you dont agree with it, good! i dont either, which is why im more of a communist/socialist type in real life, but this is a game and there are no real consquences for it in this (cos they can just hold an event like darkside sales to destroy a lot of money out of the game if they need to, we cant do that in real life). i lose a lot in those events cos i dont keep cash, all my money is in assets except a bit to play with, so i usually cant buy the dyes and end up not getting them

but it does actually help the economy flow a lot more smoothly, and gives people a nice source/sense of progression, hunting bigger things gives better items for better gold, and someone will be there to buy it from you/the items you buy retain their value. it's how the real world works, but the cash is never destroyed in RL meaning the items never get their value reset, they keep increasing in value, and the work people do is devalued due to inflation. inflation is inevitable in a capitalist system, what i'm mainly doing is taking advantage of that (as a lot of people on here do, but i try to inflate assets where they try to inflate gold).

so to summerise: the good thing about capitolism is that everything flows smoothly, the bad thing is the inflation leading to people's work being worth less, but with uo it's not a problem cos money is actually destroyed in this game

*note - i look at it like gold is basically a measure of work done, hoarding gold keeps it out of circulation, which inflates the value of it, devaluing people's work in game

We jailed 20+ people last night
This!

It might not look like much.. Aside heartwood mass pulling. Getting to them, looking, testing, jailing the ones afk...
It's 1 hour+ work. (shared work or not. The time is spent.)
Split or not. It's not just 'Found a player. He's going to jail because I dont like how he swing his pick or axe!'

We jailed 20+ people last night and the same the previous night, I can assure you we are about. :)

If you do come across someone you think is afk, please do page and we will look into it.

Thank Selene :)
thats cool and allm but you dont actaully need to train a character to do the HW quests... you just need the skills from character creation menu. so jailing anyone is uneffective :s

sadly its like real life, you have some that you can jail and jail and jail and in the end you have to shoot them to get a better society
But just like in real life,

You can't really shoot down the guy selling contraband cigarettes, you know that's a bit harsh of a punishment.

You just have to deal with it again, and again, and again...
