ok - it pays to be in IRC - I gave this notice about 20 minutes ago in there (may want to have IRC open for stuff like this hehehe)
A step has been added between the boulder and the wise man because I had no idea it would be this hard to go from step 1 to step 2. So, now we have a step 1a (which is not required to find the wise man) and the only clue is: its near the boulder.
