guide to making gold. Version 0.2

Billy the Blues Comprehensive guide to making gold. Version 0.2

THE QUICKEST AND EASIST WAY IS TO DONATE!

When you first start Ultima with a complete blank account the number of things you need to do in order for you to start making gold can be quite daunting and to be honest I really don’t know how I got started. The easiest way to make gold without a doubt is through taming and the farming monsters for gold through your pets. There is however a lot to do before you can get to this point.

!REMEMBER ALWAYS MARK A RUNE WHEN YOU GO SOMEWHERE NEW!

What you will need (the guide will explain how do obtain these items)
• Regs (lots of)
• Rune book (list of cities)
• Rune book (list of gold farming spots)
• An instrument

Step one – create a new character

Create a new character with Magery – 50, Taming -49, musicianship – 1

This new character will give u some starting regs and a musical instrument. This musical instrument will stay with you when you die (newbfied).

Select Britain as the place you wish to start

Step two – Earning Gold to Raise Magery

At the moment your spell book is looking very empty and you are missing a vital skill, gate travel. This early stage can be very tedious but stick with it! I suggest making gold by any mean, run around and try and find things that can be sold to vendors. People will often drop weapons that can be sold to NPC (non player characters).

Alternatively you can find NPC to escort. Taking them to different cities will earn you around 800-1000 gold every time you take them to their destination. Try and find NPC’s that want to go to cities that can be easily found. Cities that have Moongates are ideal. Becareful though as Pkers can often lurk around Moongates waiting for a cowardly and easy kill! You should go to a Magery shop and buy the MARK spell and some blank runes. Every time you come to a different city mark the rune so you can easily recall (You may need to buy the recall spell as well) to each destination. Once you have enough money you should buy a rune book to store all your runes in. They cost 2,500 from the Margery shop in del. There are vendors scattered about (they’re a partically good one outside of Minoc called Tessa’s venor) where you may find them cheaper.

Once you have scavenged around 3,000 gold by any means possible get your self to Brit bank and ask some kind person to gate you to Skara Brae. Once you arrive go to the Magery shop and buy all the regs you can afford. Begin casting spells that will raise your Margery. Mana Drain is a good one at early levels and work up to more powerful spells.

Once your around 83-90 go to the next step.

Step 3 – Escorting

Find NPCs around town and escort them to various locations. Hopefully you will have runes to lots of different towns by now. Gate Travel the NPC’s to their locations or gate them to a moongate and walk with them the rest of the journey. This will get you some quick easy money.

Step 4 – Train Taming, Peacemaking, and Musicianship

Go to Del to begin your taming training. There is no easy way to do this and it is quite time consuming (I feel for tamers of slow skill gain servers). You have to keep taming everything and anything. Once you have tamed a creature I suggest trying to kill it. It will respawn another one which can be tamed.

!Imporant Keep your Animal Lore at 0 Through the skills menu!

You want to fail as often as possible so keep your animal lore at 0. If you keep failing you can still gain from the same animal.

Start off taming cows, deer and horse around del and when you eventually reach around 85 begin taming Bulls. These will take you all the way up to GM.

Buy up to 30 from an animal trainer.
30 – 60 tame small animals, anything you can find. The Jholem farms work well for this one.
60 – 70 try to tame hinds, polar bears, snow leopards, and Grey/white wolves.
70 – 80 continue to tame the wolves, try maybe dire wolves, and add great hearts. Moonglow is best for these.
80 – 100 you can tame many different things but most of them will bite you. Most people will GM buy bulls in deluccia, some gm off white wolves, and others say hellhounds and lava lizards. Whatever works best for you, and where you can stay alive is what you need to be using.

[Thanks to Antarus for the taming list]

!Important While your Taming animals train peacemaking!

Train peacemaking on all the animals you find and people also. You will need to be 100 Musicianship and 100 peacemaking to peace a Nightmare.
Once you have Grand Mastered (GMed) in Animal Taming allow the animal lore skill to go up and Gm it. To do this simply use the animal lore skill on animals over and over.

When you are gm in Train Taming, Peacemaking, and Musicianship your ready for the next step.

Step 5 – Tame a Mare or Buy a mare

If you have 6/7k goto brit bank and buy a mare otherwise you will have to tame one.

!Warning! YOUR GOING TO DIE A LOT SO PUT IMPORTANT STUFF IN THE BANK

Find a nice tamer at brit bank and ask them to gate to the Nightmare spawn at Ice. Go up to the Nightmare and Peace make it. If you fail run away quick! Always cast Magic Reflect when taming a mare.

Once you have peaced it cast poison on it and where its health right down so it almost has none. This may take a few attempts. A few E-bolts will help this.

Once the mare is at almost no health Peacemake it again. Then begin to Tame it using your animal taming skill. It will say “you anger the beast” but keep going over and over as quick as possible until hopefully you begin to tame it. This may take 20 or so attempts until you are successful.

You will then be a proud own of a Nightmare. Hop on its back and gate to Britain.

Once you have to mares I suggest Gming in Vetenary

My Template is:

Magery
Animal Taming
Animal Lore
Musicanship
Peacemaking
Item ID
Vetenary

but this offers no protection, your completly defenceless against and physical attack and once you magic reflection goes down your screwed

Cotton Candy Recommends

mage
eval
med
animal lore
taming
vet
hiding

This offers alot more protection from Pkers and Monsters alike but with this template you would not beable to train your own mares but after they're bonded it wont matter.

Its all about personal preference

I would also suggest feeding your mares meat and put them in the stable for a week to bond but that maybe removed shortly so don’t worry about it.

Head off to Destard and All kill Dragons. Peace make them also. Take all the loot and Item Ident any amour or weapons they leave behind!

You can make 70k/hour from all the loot

Good luck and watch out for pkers

(Please forgive any typos/Mistakes)

Re: guide to making gold. Version 0.2

lol
Ummmm..
OR:
You could not be a lazy moocher and not count on players to be nice enuff to help you (chances are u will spend the remainder of ur time on UO trying to find a "nice" player..i kno..sad..but true) and just be a peacer with swords and GM healing off a second char (kill first) bring a friend who is older in the game or just go alone and start with zombies in jholem and the pit fighter and for peacing you can leave an unattended macro going while u sleep and wake up GM peace and music and then just go kill efreets in del like theres no tommorrow spit in the face of ne rewd who tries to kil u and run like a noob and there you are a brand new guy sitting on like 60K easily made.Trust me thats how i started here both times and it WORKS!
plus efreets give 600 - 900 gold per kill and chance of a super badass weapon so after u clear out the cave once ull have 5k and a few vanq and/or invul belongings which PwN ne red mager with a quickness!
Trust the kaos king dudes taming is wayyyyyy to time consuming for anyone with a life...
Have a good one ppls hope u listened

I really dont think there is all that much money to be made from stealing?

It is great fun though!

I steal from monsters, it takes a bit of running but it does make a decent amount of money.

Best method I found to use in the beginning was making a simple tailor. No fighting skills necessary as that character never left the guard lines.

Make a new character with 49 tailoring, 50 magery, and 1 healing (for scissors)
Start off in Britain..
Head to West Britian Bank and ask for someone to gate you to Delucia.

Directly south of delucia bank is two cotton fields with nice cotton spawn rates.

If you have Razor, and set up the Scavenger Agent to pick up the bails of cotton.

Then you can head west to the Tailor Shop and spin all the cotton into bolts. These can get heavy so just keep storing them in your bankbox. As for leather, there are bulls to kill for hides in west Delucia.

To train tailoring just keep making whatever you can't make exceptional 100% of the time.

Pays for itself through rewards given to you by completing large and small Bulk Order Deeds.
