I think the reason why I don't like Janes Addiction so much is that Perrys voice is just so incredibly whiny.
Same reason I don't like pop will eat itself, that voice just makes me want to punch someone in the face

I normally dislike female vocals.

It can be sometimes but I think he generally has an amazing voice, despite limiting himself a bit with all the distorted pentatonic scales. He's fucking amazing live too, hence I'm so pissed I missed London last month.
