I used to to think wands should be removed and were toxic to pvp as well before I played uoforever, was fun for a while but it basically turned the pvp into a marathon race. Now most (decent) pvpers on there are calling for wands and bolas to be added, even the people that actually went there because they thought pvp would be better without them.
In terms of solo pvp I don't really think more or less people will be playing solo as the people who solo simply like to solo anyway, but it would have both pros and cons, namely:
- Higher chance of surviving a chase from multiple people that would use light wands, but would more easily die if you were stunned.
- Harder time killing the random crappy pvpers (ie alot of tamers and random blues that wouldn't usually carry wands anyways, which most soloers try to fight as it is easier to fight them outnumbered) as you wouldn't have the advantage of carrying wands compared them not having them but it would be easier to kill the better pvpers which usually carry wands, as gheal wands make it very hard to kill competent players.
The pricing of wands is an issue as to really have a level playing field everyone should have access to the same equipment but that doesn't seem like it will happen any time soon as all the rich players are jacking up the prices so they can buy them out (blame the shitty economy). Doesn't really effect me since all my wands are from loots (Koreans are better then liches imo for wand stock) but would be a very large issue for a new player trying to get into pvp.
I wouldn't be against nerfing wands, imo making them use the same amount of mana as the usual mage spell should be sufficient.
You also shouldn't compare pvp currently with wands to pvp before when wands were not majorly prevalent as pvp hasn't just evolved as wands vs no wands, after so many years pvp has overall changed enormously which can be seen in uoforever as that doesn't have wand pvp but it definitely isn't comparable to back in the day.
Overall I'd say to keep wands but if we are going to nerf them (in how many years?) they should cost mana.
