POISONING

"Death comes not from the blade, but from what coats it"

Skill Overview

Poisoning allows you to apply poison to weapons, making every successful hit potentially lethal. This skill transforms any warrior into a toxic threat, adding damage over time and healing disruption to melee attacks. Higher poisoning skill applies stronger poison levels and increases application success rates.

Training Path

0-30: NPC Training

Buy from Alchemist NPCs for ~300 gold. Essential foundation before poison training.

30-60: Lesser Poison Training

Apply lesser poison to weapons:

  • • Use lesser poison potions on any weapon
  • • Practice on cheap weapons initially
  • • Each application attempt grants skill
  • • Doesn't matter if application succeeds

🧪 Tip: Buy poison potions from alchemist NPCs or make your own with Alchemy

60-80: Greater Poison

Upgrade to stronger poison:

  • • Use poison and greater poison potions
  • • More expensive but faster gains
  • • Apply to fast weapons for better training
  • • Success rates improve with skill

80-100: Deadly Poison

Master level training:

  • • Use deadly poison potions
  • • Very expensive but necessary for GM
  • • Apply to exceptional weapons
  • • Practice in combat situations

💡 Pro Tip: Combine with Alchemy to make your own poison potions and save money!

Poison Mechanics

Poison Levels

Poison Level Min Skill Damage/Tick Duration
Level 1 (Lesser) 0 3-6 ~30 seconds
Level 2 (Normal) 30 6-12 ~45 seconds
Level 3 (Greater) 60 12-18 ~60 seconds
Level 4 (Deadly) 90 18-25 ~90 seconds

Application Success

  • • Higher Poisoning skill = better success rates
  • • Weapon quality affects application chance
  • • Fast weapons get more application opportunities
  • • Poison level affects difficulty of application
  • • Each hit has a chance to apply poison

Combat Effects

  • • Damage over time (every few seconds)
  • • Prevents healing potions from working
  • • Disrupts magery concentration
  • • Stackable with weapon damage
  • • Requires curing to remove

Weapon Synergies

Ideal Poison Weapons

  • Kryss: Very fast, fencing weapon
  • Dagger: Fastest poison application
  • War Fork: Fast, good damage
  • Katana: Fast swordsman weapon

Skill Combinations

  • Fencing: Perfect with kryss/daggers
  • Swordsmanship: Katana poison builds
  • Alchemy: Make your own poisons
  • Anatomy: Increases poison damage

Poor Poison Weapons

  • • Heavy, slow 2-handed weapons
  • • Maces and war hammers
  • • Bows and crossbows
  • • Any very slow weapon

Special Considerations

  • • Poisoning works while hiding/stealthed
  • • Each weapon charge lasts ~25 hits
  • • Poison overwrites lower levels
  • • No effect on undead creatures

Practical Applications

  • PvP Combat: Deadly addition to any warrior build
  • Healing Disruption: Stop enemies from chugging heal potions
  • Damage Enhancement: Extra damage over time
  • Mage Disruption: Interfere with spellcasting
  • Assassin Builds: Perfect for stealth attacks
  • Monster Hunting: Extra damage against tough spawns

Advanced Techniques

Pre-Combat Preparation

Always apply poison before engaging enemies. Carry multiple poison potions for reapplication during extended fights. Time applications for maximum effect.

Weapon Cycling

Carry multiple weapons with different poison levels. Use deadly poison for high-value targets, lesser poison for training or when supplies are limited.

Stealth Poisoning

Apply poison while hidden for surprise attacks. The first hit from stealth with a poisoned weapon can be devastating in PvP situations.
