RESISTING SPELLS

"Magic cannot touch the disciplined mind"

Skill Overview

Resisting Spells is the primary magical defense skill, providing resistance to harmful spell effects. It reduces damage from offensive spells, shortens debuff durations, and provides immunity to certain magical effects at higher levels. Essential for any character who faces magical threats, whether in PvP combat or dangerous dungeons.

Training Path

0-30: NPC Training

Purchase from Mage NPCs for ~300 gold. More expensive but provides solid foundation.

30-70: Self-Casting Method

Cast harmful spells on yourself:

  • • Magic Arrow (1st Circle) - cheapest option
  • • Harm (2nd Circle) - faster gains
  • • Fireball (3rd Circle) - when available
  • • Cast and immediately heal/cure yourself

⚠️ Warning: This method damages you - keep healing supplies ready!

70-100: Combat Training

Fight spell-casting monsters:

  • • Evil Mages and their variants
  • • Liches and ancient liches
  • • Dragons and drakes (breath attacks)
  • • Player mages in PvP situations

💡 Pro Tip: Paralyze yourself repeatedly - it's safer than damage spells!

Resistance Mechanics

Spell Damage Reduction

Resist Level Damage Reduction Notes
0-25 0-10% Minimal protection
25-50 10-25% Noticeable improvement
50-75 25-40% Strong resistance
75-100 (GM) 40-60% Maximum protection

Debuff Duration Reduction

Higher resist skill reduces the duration of harmful effects:

  • • Paralyze spell duration shortened
  • • Curse effects last less time
  • • Poison damage reduced (but not cured)
  • • Mind Blast and Mana Vampire less effective

Special Resistances

  • Level 4+ Poison: Requires high resist to cure
  • Transformation: Polymorph resistance
  • Dispel: Harder to dispel summons you control
  • Energy Fields: Reduced field damage

Advanced Training Tips

Safe Self-Training

Use Paralyze spell on yourself - it provides resistance gains without health damage. Have Greater Heal potions ready for when paralysis wears off.

Monster Training Spots

Find areas with Evil Mages, Liches, or other spell-casters. Let them attack you while you heal. Wear heavy armor to reduce physical damage.

Partnered Training

Train with a friend - they cast harmful spells on you while you resist and heal. Much faster than solo training and safer than monster hunting.
