Snooping is the cornerstone skill for thieves, allowing you to peek into other players' and creatures' backpacks. This essential skill enables you to scout for valuable items before attempting to steal them.
While considered a criminal skill with karma penalties, Snooping is crucial for any aspiring thief. Master snoopers can examine inventories undetected, gathering intelligence on potential marks.
Core Mechanics
How It Works
- • Activation: Double-click target's backpack
- • Range: Must be within 1 tile
- • Skill Check: 0.0 to 100.0 difficulty
- • Success: Opens container for viewing
- • Failure: 50% chance to be revealed
Valid Targets
- • Players: All players except staff
- • NPCs: Vendors and townspeople
- • Creatures: Monsters and animals
- • Corpses: Cannot snoop dead bodies
Restrictions
- • Staff Immune: Cannot snoop GMs/Admins
- • Guard Zones: Limited in Trammel towns
- • Felucca: Always allowed
- • Dead Targets: Cannot snoop corpses
