TRACKING

"Every step tells a story, every trail leads somewhere"

Skill Overview

Tracking allows you to detect and locate creatures within a certain range, displaying their positions on a special tracking window. This skill is invaluable for hunters, scouts, and PvPers who need to know what's around them. At higher levels, tracking can detect hidden players and show detailed information about nearby threats.

Training Path

0-30: NPC Training

Buy from Ranger NPCs in most towns for ~300 gold. Provides solid foundation.

30-100: Active Tracking

Simply use the tracking skill repeatedly:

  • • Use tracking skill every 10-15 seconds
  • • Select different creature types each time
  • • Works anywhere - no special locations needed
  • • No resources required, completely free
  • • Gains even when nothing is found

🎯 Tip: Set up a simple macro to use tracking every 12 seconds for AFK training

Efficient Training Tips

  • • Train while doing other activities
  • • Move around for variety (different areas)
  • • Perfect skill for multitasking
  • • One of the easiest skills to master
  • • Consistent gains regardless of success/failure

💡 Pro Tip: Tracking is one of the best utility skills - useful for every character type!

Tracking Mechanics

Range by Skill Level

Skill Level Range (tiles) Coverage
0-25 5-10 Immediate area only
25-50 10-20 Local vicinity
50-75 20-30 Wide area
75-100 (GM) 30-50 Very large area

Hidden Detection

Tracking can detect hidden players, but requires high skill:

  • • 80+ skill: Can sometimes detect hidden players
  • • GM skill: Reliable detection of most hidden characters
  • • Higher hiding/stealth makes detection harder
  • • Shows general direction, not exact location

Information Provided

  • • Direction and approximate distance
  • • Creature type and name (if known)
  • • Movement updates every few seconds
  • • Red dots for hostiles, blue for players

Practical Applications

  • • PvP Awareness: Detect approaching player killers
  • • Hunting: Find specific monsters or spawns
  • • Safety: Avoid dangerous areas with many hostiles
  • • Taming: Locate rare tameable creatures
  • • Resource Farming: Ensure mining/lumber areas are clear
  • • Thief Operations: Find targets and avoid threats

Advanced Techniques

Multi-Category Scanning

Regularly scan all creature types - animals, monsters, and humanoids. Each provides different tactical information about the area's safety and opportunities.

Movement Prediction

Track the same target multiple times to determine movement patterns. This helps predict where enemies are heading and plan intercepts or avoidance.

Stealth Detection

Use tracking to detect hidden thieves and scouts. If humanoids appear and disappear from tracking, they're likely using hiding/stealth nearby.
