VETERINARY

"All creatures great and small deserve healing"

Skill Overview

Veterinary is the healing art for animals and creatures. This skill allows you to heal pets, mounts, and even wild animals using bandages and medical knowledge. Essential for animal tamers, pet owners, and anyone who relies on animal companions. At high levels, veterinary healing becomes nearly as effective as magical healing.

Training Path

0-30: NPC Training

Buy from Veterinarian NPCs for ~300 gold. Much cheaper than bandage training.

30-60: Pet Healing

Train on tamed animals or pets:

  • • Damage your pet with weapon attacks
  • • Heal with bandages using veterinary skill
  • • Horses, llamas, and other pack animals work well
  • • Keep pet fed to prevent it from going wild

🐎 Tip: Buy a cheap horse for training - much more durable than small animals

60-90: Wild Animal Method

Heal wild creatures for faster gains:

  • • Find wounded animals in dungeons
  • • Damage healthy animals slightly, then heal
  • • Birds, rabbits, and deer are common targets
  • • No animal lore required for healing

90-100: Advanced Training

Focus on challenging healing scenarios:

  • • Heal high-level pets and mounts
  • • Practice resurrection on dead pets
  • • Work with other tamers for variety
  • • Use anatomy skill for better success rates

💡 Pro Tip: Combine with Animal Lore for better healing success and efficiency!

Healing Mechanics

Healing Formula

Healing amount = (Veterinary Skill + Animal Lore Skill + Intelligence) / 5

Vet Level Heal Amount Success Rate
0-30 3-8 Low success
30-60 8-15 Moderate success
60-90 15-25 High success
90-100 (GM) 25-35 Very high success

Animal Lore Synergy

  • • Animal Lore greatly improves healing success rates
  • • Higher Animal Lore increases healing amounts
  • • GM Animal Lore + GM Vet = maximum effectiveness
  • • Can heal without Animal Lore, but less efficiently

Resurrection Capability

  • • At 80+ skill: Can resurrect dead pets
  • • Requires bandages and high skill for success
  • • Much cheaper than hiring NPCs for resurrection
  • • Essential skill for dedicated tamers

Advanced Techniques

Combat Veterinary

Learn to heal pets mid-combat while staying mobile. Position yourself safely while maintaining line of sight to your animals. Practice heal timing to counter enemy damage.

Resurrection Mastery

Pet resurrection requires high skill and can fail. Carry extra bandages and find safe locations for attempts. Consider the cost vs hiring NPC services.

Multi-Pet Management

When managing multiple pets, prioritize healing based on pet value, bonding status, and current health percentages. Develop efficient healing rotations.
